Furnace questions
Leave the house now. Do not flip switches or start a car in the garage. From outside, call the gas utility's emergency line, then call us. We will repair the leak once the utility has made it safe.
Often a dirty flame sensor that shuts the burners off after a few seconds, a failed igniter, or a clogged condensate drain on a high efficiency unit. A $129 flame sensor cleaning fixes a lot of these.
A 1 inch filter every 1 to 3 months. A 4 or 5 inch media filter every 6 to 12 months. More often with pets or during a renovation.
Yes. One on every level and one outside each sleeping area. We test for CO at the furnace on every visit, and we will tell you if a detector is missing.
A 96% furnace uses about 16% less gas and vents through PVC instead of the chimney. In our winters it pays back in 6 to 9 years for most homes. An 80% furnace makes sense in a house you plan to sell soon or where venting is hard.
15 to 20 years with yearly tune-ups. If yours is past 15 and needs an inducer or control board, we will give you the repair price and the replacement price so you can compare.
